CHAPTER 10 – BETWEEN DESTINY AND DESIRE
The space between them disappeared in an instant.
Evangelina leaned against the elevator wall, her breath uneven, her trembling hands clutching the damp fabric of her blouse. But he didn’t give her a chance to escape.
Raviel moved with predatory elegance—slow, calculated.
He placed both hands on the wall, caging her between his body and the cold metal of the elevator.
The air grew heavy. His warmth enveloped her.
The scent of his skin was intoxicating—a forbidden blend of storm and fire, of divinity and sin.
His wings, barely visible in the dim light, vibrated with restrained energy. Majestic. Celestial. Dangerous.
His lips curved into a wicked smile.
—Tell me… don’t you recognize me?
His voice was deep, hypnotic.
Evangelina felt her throat tighten. She wanted to answer, but her mind was blank, trapped between attraction and fear.
—No… —she finally whispered, her lips trembling.
Raviel tilted his head, amusement flickering in his gaze.
His golden eyes burned like living embers, as if an eternal fire raged inside him—an ancient, untamed hunger.
—Do you really not know who I am?
His voice vibrated through her chest.
The space between them was nonexistent.
Evangelina felt her skin ignite without him even touching her.
She tried to speak, but the breath caught in her throat.
His presence was a curse. A blessing. A danger.
—Please… don’t hurt me… —she stammered.
Raviel let out a soft laugh. Dark. Seductive. Devastating.
His fangs glinted against his smirk.
—Hurt you? —he whispered, lowering his face until his breath ghosted over her lips—. How could I?
The touch was fire.
Evangelina sucked in a sharp breath.
Her senses unraveled.
Raviel studied her in silence, his gaze glowing with restrained hunger.
—I have searched for you through centuries, Evangelina… in different lives… in different bodies…
His voice echoed in her mind.
The centuries. The lives.
The desperation in his eyes…
Evangelina felt herself sinking into a whirlwind of emotions she couldn’t comprehend.
—Searched…? —she whispered—. What do you mean?
But her heart already knew the answer.
Because even if her mind denied it…
Her soul remembered him.
